If you’re like me, you’re working remotely and trying to figure that out. Luckily, I’ve been working remotely from a coffee shop or home for some years now. Here are 5 tips to help you navigate #GoingRemote
Consistent Schedule
Consistency is key! Just because you are working from home still keep your normal work routine. Don’t sleep in or cut your hours short just because you’re at home. Once you let one system fail all the others will follow! Your schedule equals stability and it shows your clients and audience you’re disciplined and steadfast in unprecedented times.
Location
Keep your remote work office SEPARATE from your relaxing/chill areas. It’s important to mentally still feel like you’re “going” to work. This is impossible when you pop your laptop open in your living room whilst watching Netflix. Don’t blur the lines! Use your dinner table or convert that extra space or room into your new remote office!
Focus
Once you’re rocking your consistent schedule in your new remote office space eliminate distractions and noise. I highly recommend noise-canceling headphones and super dope Spotify focus playlist.
Leave your phone in another room and check it when you get up to stretch or use the bathroom, not every 5 minutes.
Checklist
Write a simple checklist of 1, 3 or 5 things you want to do every day. Don’t feel like you need a stuffed to the brim app with to-do’s to think you are staying busy. Some of my most productive days are when I have the least on my to-do list. Try batching tasks together on specific days, try checking email every other day, only doing video meetings on Tue or Thur, and creating content for your biz on Fridays. Just an example but I think you get my drift.
Limitation breeds creativity
Understand that we are all limited right now but these limitations are forcing us to adapt and be creative in brand new ways. I’ve seen churches move community groups to Zoom video chats, churches experimenting with live streaming, teachers trying out new chat app with their students. These are uncertain times but I’m so inspired by the human race being even more creative now than they’ve ever been. Focus on your creative solutions not your temporary limitations.
Stay healthy and creative. Launchbay Creative is thinking about you!
YOU. GOT. THIS.
